Tracking Student Success

Increase student success rates in high DFW gateway courses (Atlanta Metropolitan State College-2023)

Gateway courses have the lowest pass rates. This is particularly difficult for new freshman because it stifles their momentum and motivation to successfully past their first two semester classes and avoid academic warning and/or probation, which also impacts their ability to meet financial aid academic requirements.

Mid-Term Conversations (Albany State University-2023)

Mid-Term Conversations provide students with mid-term DFUs with face-to-face opportunities in one-on-one or small groups to discuss challenges from the first half of the semester and expose them to campus resources to get them back on track.

The facilitator asks students direct questions to get them engaged, introduces alternative assumptions, asks for examples, and asks for personal reflections and insights as to why they are having academic challenges in the first year.

Providing a strong foundation through Career Assessment, Professional Development and Completion of Career Choice (Albany State University-2023)

The Office of Career Services supports the following initiatives through Student Access and Success by targeting all students, specifically underrepresented students, that will benefit from informed career planning efforts, using resources such as Focus 2 Career, that can be institutionalized over the life of the grant. All students (and faculty), specifically underrepresented students, will gain access to employer and career resources using the Handshake system and other virtual networks within the Office of Career Services.

Analyzing degree complexity and its impact on degree completion (Georgia Institute of Technology-2023)

Georgia Tech’s curricular analytics efforts are ongoing to study degree programs, identify majors with high program complexity, and develop adjustments designed to lower complexity and accelerate time to degree completion.

The curricular analytics analysis aligns to the Expand Access focus area of the ISP and overlaps with our examination of equity in student success metrics described in Activity 2.

Study Abroad (Georgia College and State University-2023)

The International Center facilitates and coordinates international academic study, research, and internship opportunities for all Georgia College students, as well as partnerships and exchanges with institutions abroad. Students may study abroad on short-term programs - often with faculty in their majors - or through semester or even academic year-long programs at major universities throughout the world. Study Abroad/Study Away programs are one of the optional transformative learning experiences available in GC Journeys.
