Georgia Tech is a top-ranked public college and one of the leading research universities in the United States. Georgia Tech provides a technologically focused education to more than 39,000 undergraduate and graduate students in six colleges and 29 schools concentrating on business, computing, design, engineering, liberal arts, and sciences.  

A four-year institution, Georgia Tech is consistently the only technological university ranked in U.S. News & World Report’s listing of America’s top 10 public universities. In addition, Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering is consistently ranked in the nation’s top five public engineering programs by U.S. News.

The Institute is consistently rated among the top universities in the nation for the graduation of underrepresented minorities in engineering, physical sciences, and architecture and planning. According to Diverse: Issues in Higher Education and the American Society of Engineering Education, Georgia Tech is the largest producer of engineering degrees for underrepresented minorities and minority women in the nation. Georgia Tech is the largest producer of engineering degrees for women according to 2019 IPEDS data.

The Institute is a national and international leader in research, and one of the South’s largest industrial and engineering research engines. In 2020, research, economic development, and other sponsored activities at Georgia Tech topped $1.06 billion, allowing the Institute to take on complex and significant challenges involving multiple disciplines and bringing together teams of researchers with a broad range of specialized expertise.  Georgia Tech plays a leading role in the Georgia Research Alliance, a centerpiece of the state’s economic development strategy, and has an estimated $3.9 billion annual impact across the metro Atlanta economy.
