The Eagle Experience (Georgia Southern University-2023)

Strategy/Project Name:
The Eagle Experience
Momentum Area:
Purpose
Strategy/Project Description:

The overarching focus for The Eagle Experience is to provide an experience that creates a successful transition for incoming students and tightly integrates key university Divisions working collaboratively and connecting the social, academic, and support elements of the student experience.

Activity Status:
Evaluation/Assessment plan:

Evaluation plan and measures: Surveys are sent approximately 6 weeks into each semester (to students, supporters, and university stakeholders) to assess learning outcomes and intake feedback. This data is used to assess and improve programming. The first couple of years are critical, using this information to refine the initiative and create a solid outline for the future. But regular assessment will be ongoing.

Baseline measure: Fall 2021 survey results from students/supporters are considered baseline.

Goal or targets: While we have not set targets, 90%+ of students/supporters answering that they Agree or Strongly Agree on stated questions connected to learning outcome questions is desired.

Time period/duration: Outbound assessments go out each semester to all incoming students from that term. A summative assessment is sent to that same student population in early April of each spring semester.

Progress and Adjustments:

Work is ongoing and adjustments are plenty. Much progress has been made in building it in the last two terms. Ongoing communication with university partners is critical.

Plan for the Year Ahead:

Currently finalizing spring 2024 calendar; and working to build the fall 2024 calendar for the start of term, as well as summer events. This will happen through August.

Challenges and Support:

Continued institutional communication and buy-in are key. We need top-down leadership to continue to support and push for all areas to be involved and find their way to participate.
