Freshmen Learning Communities (University College) (Albany State University-2024)

The Learning Communities (LCs) in which two or more courses are linked thematically with collaborative instruction and co-curricular activities. These courses, and their faculty, focus on core areas as well as areas of academic performance, retention, student mindset, and degree progression. LCs at ASU will provide an easier platform of transition to ASU students while providing a supportive network of peers, mentors, professors, success services, and more.

Loretta Ussery Griffy

Dr. Loretta Ussery Griffy has worked on a college campus over 25 years. She currently serves as the Associate Provost for Student Success at Austin Peay State University (APSU) and Professor of Mathematics and Statistics. Her work on campus focuses on promoting student success and a culture of self-improvement on campus through development, implementation and assessment of initiatives focused on the teaching, learning, and advising environment in a collegiate setting.

Nathan Klingbeil

Dr. Nathan Klingbeil is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Wright State University (Dayton, OH).  He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1998.  Prior to joining the Wright State faculty, he worked as a Materials Research Engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Materials and Manufacturing Directorate.
